Multicast traffic
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:14:43 AM »

Hello,

I'm using a DFL-800 (firmware v. 2.27.03.25-14780) with differents workstations on my lan (XP, Nas, and one station with Windows 7 Pro x64).

Since installing Windows 7, this worksation sends many UDP packets to these multicast/broadcast addresses :
- 239.255.255.250 / UDP 1900 or 3702
- 224.0.0.253 / UDP 3544
- 224.0.0.252 / UDP 5355

I know that's a normal thing for Windows 7 (LLMNR, UpNp, ...), but not for the DFL !
I just want the DFL to stop logging this traffic to have a "clean log".

I think that's not a really security flaw until these packets destinations are only on the lan ?

Thanks for your help !

In the system>Advanced settings>ip settings set the Block Multicast SRC: to ignore

Thanks for your answer, but it doesn't work, as these broadcast/multicast addresses are not the sources, but the destinations.

The source is the workstation which sends these packets.
