Just jumped on the forum for this exact problem.  I am running the new Motorola SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 modem on Comcast in the Bay Area.  I have the Rev. A1 DIR-825 modem and still have daily dropouts.  I know the problem is router specific as I previously had a Linksys DOCSIS 2.0 modem hooked up.  So upgrading the modem does not make a difference (although, when it does work, I will say the SB6120 is about 20% faster).  I've been a very devoted D-Link user (3rd D-Link router, 3 switches, 4 or 5 wireless adapters), but this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.  I'm going to update to the 1.13NA firmware released on 1/28/2010 and see if that solves the problem.  I'll also change the WAN setting (although my modem does have a gigabit connection).  If that doesn't work, I'll try the Netgear 3700.

I have a D-LINK DAP-1522 wireless bridge connected to my blue ray, tv and xbox. Which links up wireless to my really old linksys wireless router. I was thinking about upgrading my router, the D-LINK website says my DAP-1522 is compatible with the DIR-825, after reading all of the bad press I am having second thoughts. I'm curious how a company can let such a bad product stay on the market I am equally troubled by the lack of response to this forum from DLINK. I have heard good things about the DIR-655 but I'm not sure why DLINK would only say the 825 is compatible, any thought would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

So far so good for me with the change out to an SB6120.  I've run a couple of continuous tests that wouldn't work before (upload to Vimeo, bittorrent seeding) without a connection drop.  I've been on 1.13NA for a while too.

hiyas, i had the same problem that wasn't fixed by any of the vast array of methods...

I'm by no means qualified so if i'm talking dangerous nonsense please post, but its worked perfectly for me

-dlink router, lan connection constantly dropping in and out saying network connection unplugged (or whatever the error message is >< )

fixed by going into the router configuration ( for me its http://192.168.0.1 )

-  login >  network settings  >  advanced  >  advanced network  > uncheck 'Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) supports peer-to-peer Plug and Play functionality for network devices.'

gd950:

Your post is by no means "dangerous nonesense" - in fact
it makes good sense to me.

I think most IT folks would agree - if you don't need
UPnP then by all means turn it off. The use of UPnP often
includes some additional security risks. It's great if you
need it. Turn it off if you don't!
