slowly prices are going down on SSD drives, holding out for the larger sizes to go down in price a lil more, in the mean time im curious if i can take this 2.5" ssd drive i got ( 128gb) sataIII and pop it in my dns 323, i am sure i would speed up read speeds, has anyone tried this>?

Adding a faster hard drive probably won't speed up your NAS. The bottleneck is the CPU.

I'd say the probability of damaging the drive is slim to nil - provided is uses a standard SATA interface.

any chances of a hex editor or bios software mod to O?C that puppy? then mod a firmware to load it? 
perhaps a v-core mod might speed it up, im sure i can find some artic silver lying around and a thin heatsink for it if i have too

I haven't tried installing this ssd into the drive bay, need to think custom mount or find and old 3.5 ide drive shell to make it fit. I am sure the FAN will be almost non exsistant and the quietest NAS on the market, my most energy eff. as well.

next thing we will do is make it run on a solar setup and batteries off the grid buryed in someone elses yard, to hide it from the FBI when come to raid ur home for DL too much tv shows or music online
