Using pre-loaded NTFS hard drives
« on: May 23, 2011, 07:07:18 AM »

Ok sorry for my ignorance.

I have two NTFS SATA drives I currently use on a desktop .. I want to pull those out and put them in a NAS and use them since I have all my work data on them.

Do I HAVE to have these formatted before they can be used or can I simply plug them in and they're good to go?

The NTFS file system is used on Windows PCs. The DNS product line uses the EXT file system, which is native to Linux. In short, you will have to format your drives.
