OK, so my plan is to install both my modem and router inside my desktop case, powering them from the PSU. So when I switch on/off the PC the modem and router will also power up/down. Both of the units will have the top halves of their casings permamently removed and will live at the base of the PC so they should be better off cooling-wise than if they were in their normal state on a desk or in a cupboard.
As far as I can ascertain there should be no problem with more frequent power ups/downs (I reckon it would actually be of benefit - less uptime = less use/stress/temp etc.), but I would like to get any sound opinions as to whether the modem and (in particular) the 855 could in some way be adversely affected.
I want to reduce hardware clutter around my work area. I also plan to install the 855 display in the unused floppy bay on the desktop and mount the antennae externally near the top of the rear panel on the PC - should be a really good mod. But I'm just at the 'can-it-be-done' stage at the moment...
So I'm open to any opinions/advice anyone may have.
Cheers
