I have a junky Acer Aspire one 32-bit, with which I can use the D-Link 3.1.1 D-View Cam software perfectly. I also have a HP G62 Notebook PC, 64-bit operating system. When I open the Main Console on the HP Notebook, it opens up for half a second and then crashes. It started doing this about a month ago. Both notebooks are running WIN 7 Ultimate. I can’t remember when, but I installed this operating system somewhere around the same time as the error started. Oddly, it works well with the Acer. The error message says:
“System encountered a problem
Recovery procedure is started
MainConsole would restart in 12 seconds
Press Cancel to stop MainConsole immediately”
It runs this process over and over again. There’s an option to restart and press ok, which I’ve tried. And I’ve tried letting it go through the cycle for a long time. The console doesn’t stay open long enough for me to even install the 4th camera.
I have uninstalled and downloaded the software on the HP a few times with the same result. So I can’t view the cameras except through a browser. It’s really frustrating, and I don’t bother with D-View technical representatives any longer.
Is it the 64-bit system that’s the problem?? My four cameras are DCS-920 if that matters, and I’m using a Linksys Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N. Has anybody run into this problem with that specific error message? I also changed the display settings on my HP to 1280X768, and that didn’t make any difference. The User Account Control setting is off. I turned off the anti-virus protection as a test and that didn’t work.
