I brought a DSR-1000N a couple weeks ago and having a bit of trouble setting it up. I have working and connected to the internet but the wireless signal is terrible. My old Netgear WNR2200 has better wireless signal than this. Im starting to be a bit disappointed with this router as it wasnt cheap and seems to have poor performance so far. Im sure it's just me being stupid not being able to set it up properly. But does anyone any tricks to this to get the wireless running properly?? Also when i set the connection speed to auto it only has eva connected at a maximum to 24mbps but mostly at 9mbps or 11 mbps. I want at least 100mbps.

Is this router being used for a SOHO or business class environment?

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition,and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Enable WMM Enable Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless if you have this option.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Im in Brisbane, Australia and is being used for SOHO.
Wireless settings are as follows:
2.4ghz
n only
20mhz
Channel 13
Default transmit power: 31dbm
Transmit Power: 9dbm
Transmission Rate: Best (automatic)

Security is: WPA+WPA2
Encryption: TKIP+CCMP
Authentication: PSK

There's only a laptop and 2 mobiles using the wireless signal and it's my HTC ONE X thats giving me the info for the wireless testing. And it's pretty bad in comparison.

Can you up the transmit power any?
Does this router have AES security encryption by chance?
How far away are wireless devices from the router?
Is the router on the same floor and connecting devices?

This model unit isn't sold here in the U.S. so not much experience with it. I will say this, DSR models are  designed and meant mainly or business and enterprise class environments and maybe incompatible with SOHO environments. I would highly recommend that you test a DIR series router such as one of the following:
DIR-865L, 835, 826L, 825 or 655. These are designed well for SOHO environments and are best suited and offer the best compatibility in these cases.

No i cant turn the transmit power up unfortunately. Im pretty sure there is AES encryption on the device but not sure where to configure it from. The wireless devices can be just the other side of the office (on the other side of a wall) and have only like 40% strength. In the same room unless im right on top of the rack it still doesnt give me 100%. It's like it doesnt have enough power to transmit over good distances. I hate to try and sell as i will loose too much money on it. I mite email DLINK directly and see if they have any thoughts on it, but at this stage im very disappointed with it, esp. if it's meant for business's.
Oh and yes it's all 1 level.

well as it turns out i think it's just my phone's WIFI playing up. Tested with my laptop and i get 80% signal strength at the other end of the house through 3 walls and still getting 1.2mb/s download, which is good seeing as im only on ADSL2+
I'll keep you posted but i think it's working fine. I emailed DLINK to see if they had any ideas also.

Good to hear. I have heard that some phones just don't have the same robust wifi HW has say PCs and Laptops. Keep us posted.
