Try the WebGUI instead. Look at the display on the DNS-343 to determine what the IP Address of the unit is and then type the following in your browser:
http://###.###.###.###
Once you login, try applying the 1.02a firmware update. Once applied, see if the unit detects the HDD's. Lastly, did you check the D-Link Support site to ensure that the HDD's you purchased were tested by D-Link (or others)?
