hello,
the dir-457u wireless work perfectly with laptops, however when i try to connect to it from an iphone or ipad it:
1. take time to the SSID to appear (like 10-30 seconds) on the device
2. sometimes when i try to connect i get 'unable to connect' 1 to 3 times until it succeed (no password set)

it only happen in iphone and ipad or maybe some other smartphones and tablets

how can i make the SSID broadcast stronger or something else that will make the problems go away

solution from the web admin or from the telnet to change core configuration
thanks

What wireless modes does it have? Try setting single mode G and no security to test.
The use WPA or WPA2 with Auto TPIK/AES.

There not a forum for 457?

possible the unit is bad or not close enough? Any other WiFi in the area?
Make sure your connected device has the proper settings to automatically set up the device and can connect to it. There might be a profile that your using that has security options enabled and trying to use them when the device is set for no security.

Try the device on a different system or PC, friends or nieghbors house?

other wifi networks works fine the security option is disabled, the device is 1-2 meters from the router
this is a new (from 2010) pocket 3g router that is based on a small battery, d-link operate a special algorithm to save battery time, but i think it can be reconfig from the telnet (busybox) to disable the power saving technique
