Can't access config page, at all!!
« on: January 17, 2009, 01:41:24 AM »

I just updated my firmware to 1.06 and now I can't access the configuration page. I get the initial log on page, but when I fill in the credentials and click configure I get pushed to http://192.168.0.150/goform/formLogin and the page is blank. I've tried power cycling the box, I've tried hitting the factory reset switch, I've tried pulling the drives...nothing is helping.

When I upgraded the firmware everything seemed to go smoothly. I went away for a bit and when I got back it was sitting there waiting for permission to reboot. I rebooted it and as soon as I tried to access the config page I got a blank page in return. The hard drives also seemed to go crazy with constant activity which would start up again every time I tried to log in, though that seems to have stopped after pulling and reinstalling the drives.

I can access the drives just fine through my mapped drive in XP.

This can't be related to the bittorrent issue people seem to be having as I've never used bittorrent on the nas.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Does it work on reboot?  Seems like downgrading to 1.05 is the way to go for all of us until these bugs are worked out.  Not being able to access the config page is a big bug.  I'm affected by the BT issue you referenced.  Your issue just makes it all that much worse.

No, on reboot I can see the login page but I can't login. When I try it just gives me a blank page so I can't even revert the firmware.

Restart the DNS without the network cable.  If there is no disk activity, it could indicate that something else on your network is accessing the DNS.

If there is disk activity without the cable connected, it could be an indication that there is a problem with one of the HDD's.

Did you reset the device to factory defaults and try accessing the unit again? Also if you have another PC try to access it from this other PC as well. I dont think this would be quite considered a bug as not everyone is able to not access the config after updating the firmware maybe just a bad flash. If the issue persists after resetting the device please contact technical support via telephone for a replacement unit if needed.

Maybe it was a bad flash. I've reset to defaults, tried from multiple machines...it just doesn't want to work. I'm not seeing any unusual indications of net traffic from the box. I've never done bt through it either.

When I did the flash it seemed to go ok, but perhaps something was corrupted.

What a p.i.t.a.

If you can't access the configuration page try to use another browser. Try to use the easy search utility to find the IP address on the DNS and if not finding it you can also try to power cycle the device until it find the IP address.
