slow, slow transfer speeds

I have tried everything I can think of, but I cannot get a good transfer speed using the DNS-320. Right now, I am transferring from an external USB drive to the 320...process has been going for going for 25 hours and only 130 gigabytes have been transferred. If transfer wirelessly or through the switch, the speeds are both less than  1mb per second.

Now, I am no expert, but something is wrong. Even accessing the device is slow. Any thoughts?
