Did Hurricane Irene killed my DNS-323 drives?
« on: August 31, 2011, 06:27:31 PM »

I've had my DNS-323 for years now and love it. Hurricane Irene came and the power went out unexpectedly.

When I start the device, the two hard drive lights flash for a while, then go "solid" (no flashing). But I can't mount the device in Linux and I can't map a drive to it in Windows.

The D-Link Easy Search Utility displays the device. After a long while, clicking "configuraiton" actually works and opens the DNS-323 admin website.

When I scan the disk for problems, I get this:

 Volume Name     Scan Disk Result
 Volume_1     FAILED

Is all my data lost? Is there any way to recover?

Although you tried to mount the HDDs using Linux, there are two Windows applications that will mount DNS formatted HDDs that you can try: Ext2IFS  and R-Studio.
