DNS-323 Fan stops running
« on: July 30, 2011, 04:40:44 AM »

After about a year or so, I am starting to get issues with my DNS-323.  I noticed that it got disconnected and I have to unplug the power cord for it to restart.  I also noticed the device was getting pretty warm.  Finally, I realized it is the fan.  The fan stop spinning, or just not working all together.  Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you so much for your input.

First you need to determine if the fan is stopping because it is failing or just normal behaviour due to low temperature.

Try setting the fan to 'on' in the configuration. This will tell you if it has failed. If it has, replace it or try cleaning dust/dirt out of it.

Depending on your firmware version, the fan only comes on around 45 degree (IIRC). You can monitor the actual temperature in the status page rather than 'feeling warm'.
