3G connectivity
« on: August 21, 2011, 03:36:16 PM »

Just got this router because it says on all the advertising that I can "bring your router along when you travel and connect it to a 3G mobile service to provide Internet access to a group".

How do I enable this?  I have the 3G stick that works fine in my computer.  I figured out Shareport to connect a single computer, but I want to have the 3G stick power anyone who connects to the router on the wifi, not just a computer?  How do i do this?

Under Setup/Internet/Manual/Internet Connection, I think you need to select 3G USB option there. You'll probably need some account information to fill in.

There is no 3g option there.  Static, DHCP, PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP, are the only options.  Also with my 3G stick, there is no login information, I have an APN to select, but i know with other routers it is not necessary to add that.

firmware 2.00NA
hardware version 1a

i just ran the emulator and definitely see the 3G option, mine does not have that. The emulator shows 1.0NA, but I dont remember having that option before upgrading firmware.  Seems weird to remove that option.  Any thought of downgrading firmware might return the option?

i just flashed down to 1.01NA which is the lowest firmware on dlink's site.  And the option is still not there.  The only reason i bought this router was for the 3G setting, how come mine just ignores it.  Is there some click box on another page I need to set to have it appear on the manual page?

also i did a search on the page, and 3G does not appear anywhere.  When I view the page source 3G pops up 9 times and shows the things from the emulator.  Why o why does it not appear on the drop down menu?

Go onto the Internet Setup > Manual Internet Connection Setup

Under Internet Connection Mode:
My Internet Connection is : 3G USB Adapter

You will have to fill the following details in:
Quote
WWAN INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE :
Enter the information provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Country :
ISP :
User Name :        (optional)
Password :        (optional)
Dial Number :
Authentication Protocol :
APN :        (optional)
Reconnect Mode :      Always-on  Manual  Connect-on demand
Maximum Idle Time :       (minutes,0=infinite)
MTU :       (bytes)(128-1492)

Though I'm using 2.01 (Non-NA)

Try doing a Restore To Factory Default Settings after updating firmware

I think the 3GB USB Adapter option is only available in WW firmware version and not in NA version.

I tried flashing to a WW firmware, but the router did not allow it.  I am going to try flashing to an earlier version of the WW.  I live in Honduras so 3G is the only way I can get connectivity, is there a known way to put the WW firmware on a router that was purchased in the states?

update: I bought another 3G router and going to have it shipped.
