Torrent problems DNS 325 from several torrent sites
« on: April 17, 2012, 02:18:10 AM »

Hi

Recently I've noticed that I can't use the built in P2P app for .torrent files from several torrent sites.

Before I could download from for exampel kickasstorrent and extratorrent, but now (and most recently files from extratorrent) I can't start these.

I used to download from thepriatebay, but when they started using magnet I started downloading from extratorrent (which is not a verry good site, but anyway), but now they don't work either, and they still have .torrent files.

I tried to put .torrent files from kickasstorrent and extratorrent in the torrent folder of my dns 325, but it changed the file to .torrent.invalid. I took a torrent file from for exampel isohunt and that one worked, and the download started.

My question is if anyone know why this is happening. Is it the sites that change how their .torrent files are built, and that the P2P application can't apply, or is it something else?

Does anyone know a good toorent site that works with the NAS?

Regards
Christian

Actually, even using the magnet links, the uTorrent program still does download the .torrent files to a local folder (e.g.  ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent/) on the Mac. It now just doesn't get them from the website, but from P2P peers.
So you should be able to translate all your magnet links to torrent files with the uTorrent program.

Aha, that is good to know, but you still need to use your computer and the uTorrent client, right? You need to add it to utorrent, then manually move the .torrent file from the utorrent folder to the torrent folder on the NAS, or am I missing something?

I'm using my Galaxy tab to controll my downloads on my NAS, but it seems that the P2P client bulit in the NAS can't use .torrent files from several sites. Even if I locally on the webmgmt for the NAS add the .torrent file, it won't work from several sites that used to work only weeks ago.

Noone else experienced this problem? Or how are you using the built in P2P client of the NAS?

Sure, you need to use uTorrent on your PC to get the torrent files.
But instead of copying them to torrent folder on NAS, I used the web-UI to upload it. It probably ends up in the same place on NAS.

Aha, I will try that, but still I want to find a solution so I won't have to use my computer.
