« on: August 21, 2011, 03:37:32 PM »

If i plug in a USB external hard drive can I use that as the NAS server and have other computers attach to it? Specifically I want to have the router stream to my PS3.

For streaming it wouldn't be a good idea to try to do that from the external HD. USB is not fast enough for streaming video and such. Good for file xfers and storage. I recommend putting the external HD on a dedicated PC that you can stream from via LAN or Mixed LAN and wireless. You can connect the HD to the USB port and you have to use shareport sw on each PC that you want for them to connect to it. There is a shareport utility forum as well for additional information and questions.
