DNS-343 Slot 3 and 4 not working!
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:49:45 PM »

My DNS-343 has been working with 3 harddrives until recently. It reported a HDD3 failure one day and slot 3 and 4 now no longer recognize hard drives, although the drive did not fail as I was able to read and access the data through a dock.

I tried to put in a brand new hard drive in slot 3 and the NAS didn't even see it. Putting the same hard drive in slot 1 or 2 works. Any thoughts?

How long ago did you purchase your DNS-343?
How are your HDDs configured (Standard Volumes/RAID)?

I bought it exactly a year ago, October 28, 2010. All the drives are standard drives.

Just found my receipt and raised the issue with dlink tech support. I think the unit is defective.

I believe the warranty period is exactly one year from the date of purchase. You can shoot for an RMA and see what happens.

You may want to try setting the DNS-343 back to the factory defaults and reinstalling the firmware. Perhaps the firmware was somehow corrupted. This should not impact your files or HDD configurations. I also recommend saving the configuration settings to your desktop so you can quickly restore your user settings after your done.
