i think my unit is dead

came home from work and found my dns321 unit turned off, but the rest of my stuff on. when i powered it up, about 10-15 seconds into the boot i get a small buzzing noise every 3 seconds. anyone know what this means? i see activity on both hard drives but i am unable to access the nas.

It seems the unit may be damaged or the drive in the unit is damaged and it is making the buzzing sound. The DNS-321 is designed to make any noise such as you describe so something is not right. Are you able to access the unit or the volumes?

Any time you have a unit which you feel is obviously defective please call in at 1 888 851 6464 so we can get that taken care of.

This number applies to any home class product, if you are ever in doubt as to the number you should call or the hours of support just see that products page on http://support.dlink.com

For example for the DNS-321 the page is at:

Notice the right hand bar has support numbers, hours, and  other support contacts.



ECF, feel free to close out this thread, perhaps even sticky it  as a notice to future generations who will need to know that they should just call in and get a replacement if their product fails.
