Can't transfer files to my DNS-320 from my Mac
« on: October 16, 2011, 05:46:47 PM »

I keep getting "error -36" when I try to move files (I tried videos, music, zip...) to the unit.

I have AFP on.

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix the problem? The unit is pretty much useless to me right now.

With Finder selected, click Go > Connect to Server and enter: afp://192.168.1.xx (enter IP of the NAS)

Are you using Snow Leopard or Lion?

I just tried, it spent a long time trying connecting but nothing happened. I'm using Lion.

Restart your NAS, router, and any switches then try again. Make sure the IP is correct to the NAS; it should work.

Restarting did the trick. Thank you!

And how's your speed with AFP ? I couldn't get more than 6mb/s with CIFS or AFP + disconnects, so I switched to NFS, now I get 10+mb/s (100 mbps network)

Good Afternoon. I am afraid I am having the same problems as the initial poster. I recently purchased the 320 and have thus far been unable to copy any files to it from my Lion (10.7.2) based machines. I do have a Leopard (10.5.8) machine attached and it can write to the NAS without problem. I am able to mount the drive and read from it on any of the three machines. I have tried using AFP, NFS, but have gotten the same result. I did restart my switch and the NAS but to no avail. I know with Lion Apple changed the AFP protocol, but it looks as though others have been successful in making this work. I am anxiously awaiting Firmware 2.02 in hopes that it might help. Any other suggestions?
