Router doesnt accept any config change
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:40:42 PM »

Hello all,
I have a DIR-615 A1 router but it is giving me some trouble last days.... :(
First it completely stopped working just like mentioned by post http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=3178.0
By doing what is said in that post(thanks for that hint!!!) I could at least revive the router with version 1.1 and access the config web page. The DHCP is also working since it gives an IP to my PC.
The problem is that when I try to save any change in the config page, it goes to a blank page and after this I cant access the web page anymore. I need to restart the router to be able to access the web page again.... Also I noticed that I cant connect to the internet using it as router....

Does anyone knows how to fix this????

Appreciate any help!
Thanks very much

I was running firmware 1.10.
Unfortunatelly, it seems my router has died forever....
I was looking around in the admin page then I tried to save the config to generate debug logs, but when I saved the config, I went into the blank screen again, but this time the router didn't boot up anymore, and went back to the unresponsive state.
I repeated the crash reset and could open the upload firmware page, but this time the upload doesn't work at all, the percentage value keeps raising until 100% but I could see from the PC netwok status that no packet was being sent to the router..... I repeated this several times but none of them was successful.... I could observe that after I ask the page to upload the firware, the status led stop blinking, and probably the firware receiver of the router stops responding....
This seems a hardware problem and apparentlly it happened without some good reason. This router was plugged in a no-break, so I think I can discard any power supply problems... I noticed it gets really hot when in use, so maybe some component may have burned with its continuous use, although this should not happen in good products....

Yep, sounds like a HW problewm to me too. I have the same router with none of the problems mentioned. I am however working through the remote administration issues.

Well.. if indeed your unit is defective with hardware failure, contact Tech Support and the agent will have to confirm the unit is defective and you should be able to receive an RMA. 877-453-5465
