Local backups on DNS-325 and file dates?
« on: October 20, 2011, 03:14:21 PM »

I just got a new DNS-325 basically to get more speed when streaming video then my old DNS-323.

On the DNS-323 I could never use the local backup feature because it would not copy the dates of the original files.  The DNS-323 would just copy the file over and the file on the backup drive would have the current date/time versus the original file date/time.  Basically I was forced to install funplug to get the hard drives sync'ed so every night at 2:05 any files that were added or deleted on the right hand drive got transferred or deleted on the left drive and the original file date was kept.

I don't have any hard drives to experiment with, has the DNS-325 been fixed so a true backup can be made?
Are the file dates kept intact if using the APPLICATION LOCAL BACKUP option?

I did try just using two folders on volume_1 and set the DNS325 up to transfer between the two folders, the file dates were kept intact.  I currently can't try volume to volume backups until I know everything is working and I can retire my DNS323.

I was unable to get the following to work; if I deleted a file in the one folder, it did not delete it out of the other folder.  Would be nice to add a true sync option so you could decide if you wanted any files deleted on volume 1 would also be deleted on volume 2.
