Status page on Log In !
« on: November 02, 2011, 04:02:35 AM »

I wonder if is posible to have (again) the usual redirect after log in. On DIR-635, DIR-855 after log in you get redirect to the STATUS if WAN connection si functional, else you get SETUP. Now, on DIR-825 even if WAN is active/functional the redirect is to SETUP page. There is a chance to fix this ?

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?
What broswer are you using? Try a different browser like Opera or FF.

Mornig sunshine !
DIR-825 H/W: B1 F/W: 2.05EU (i've tested also with 2.03EU / 2.04EU)
Browsers used: IE 8.0 / 9.0, FF 7.0.1, Opera 11.52.1100, Chrome 15.0.874.5, Maxthon 3.1.7.1000, Safari 5.1.1

Don't hesitate to let me know if you need something else, i don't know, i'm new in this ... maybe cable lenght aprox. 8m, connection type RJ-45 T568-B Gigabit / 802.11n, position on the wall - vertical with antennas down ... so if there is everything else that you need to know and will help to change the routine that calls for /index.asp instead of /st_device.asp after login, of course as stated before, when WAN connecion is present/active.

They may have done this deliberately to point users to the Setup area as this realistically is the first place people should go. You could copy the URL of the STATUS page and book mark it and then use it to open the web page, log in, then I think it should go to the status page.

Now is more likely, i think you are right on that but as it was before was EVEN BETTER.
a) STATUS if WAN is present/active
b) SETUP if WAN is link-down/not-connected/etc

why ? because i usually log in just to see status/logs/wifi/etc

... anyway nice try but is not the solution. If you try to get into /st_device.asp and you log on credentials are expired (usually goes off after 3min or so) you are redirected to log in page, after successfull log in you still get SETUP page. In a way makes sense if you think as webdesigner (http://192.168.xxx.xxx/index.asp) ... where index.* is always default page but i can't understand why they changed for new 6xx/8xx series when the old one was better. Makes no sense. The only solution is to change code under "Log In" button :P thats why i hope for an answer from someone in d-link firmware development team.

I kind of doubt there will be a code change. This is a non critical issue and getting to the status page is one click away after you log in. Good luck man.

Indeed is not but is also true that could be made on the next update with minimum of effort. I'm positive that are many users that are agree with that specially that this was/is a fact on olds DIR-6xx series.
