Hi

I have a DIR-600 (firmware 2.05) connected to internet and my computer. For a week or so, for some reason, there is a high number of SSDP messages on my internet cable (about 100/second). Probably a faulty equipment from the internet provider.

The problem is that this high traffic of SSDP messages cause the router to freeze, the instant I plug in the internet cable.

I have tried to block in the router firewall the address 239.255.255.250 on port 1900, but it get the error "invalid address". I have also disabled the Upnp function on the router, but without result.

How can I block these messages, so I can use my router again.
Anyone had a similar problem?

Have you called the ISP and asked them about this?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

      I have a Fiber Optic Internet. There is NO modem in front of the router, I have the cable that comes into my apartment and then my DIR-600 Wireless 150 Router. Probably there is another equipment from the provider, but not under my control.
    So practicaly, I only have the internet cable, the router and my computer.
What happens before this, is the provider's problem. I tried to work this out with the provider, but with no success.

    The only solution is to find why these requests freeze the router and how can I block them.

Seen some problems with Fiber Optic and external routers. Fiber has there own systems and your best bet would be to get your self a network switch and or a DLink DAP for wireless and connect up to the Fiber line.

I have made made up my mind. I'll install this router at my parents house, as they don't seem to have this SSDP traffic problem, and I will get a Linksys Wireless-N E1200.

If this solution won't work, I'll make a huge scandal about this at my internet provider. Maybe even connect my power cable to the internet cable
