I've purchased and am trying to use a Dir-655 rev. B, running firmware 2.00NA. I have two hard-drive style Apple Tv's. They can see my wireless network, and after putting in the passcode, can connect. They at this point are visible to iTunes and can play any/all of my content. However after a period of non-use, they go into standby mode, and upon waking, can no longer connect to my network. I have to re-do the wireless each and every time. Any suggestions or ideas as to why this would be happening?

What wireless modes are you using on the Router? Might switch to single mode G or N, or Mixed G and N. Might help some.

Seems like if the ATVs are going into stand-by that they should be able to reacquire connectivity with router as the router is broadcasting all the time. You might try changing the Beacon Period value and see if this helps.

You might pose this questions with people in the Apple forums as well. Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunetly no, they go into standby after a period of non-use by design.

I'm in mixed mode, G+N. I did change the beacon period and that didn't help at all.

Additionally, I tried to use the network remote app available on the iPhone, and it was unable to "see" either Apple TV, even when they were connected to the network. Same with the network Tivo remote apps for my Tivo.

Seems like a wakeup signal is not either being sent from the connecting device or the ATV is not getting or accepting the wake signal when something try's to connect.

Is uPnP enabled or disabled?
I presume that Multi-Media streams option is enabled.

It would be interesting if you could try a different router to test.

uPnP is enabled.

It all worked correctly 4 weeks ago when I had AT&T Uverse and was using the AT&T provided 2Wire modem. I've since purchased my own house, moved, and have Charter and my newly purchased Dir-655.

Before even having the AT&T service I know it used to work several years ago on my Linksys WRT54g, but that router died somehow during the move. I'll see if I can't borrow one from work and test with that.

Same problem here...

2 apple TV's - first and 2nd generation.

Both now require password each time they are used after going into standby. Neither did on previous router.

Only change: New d-link router. I actually 'upgraded' (or so I thought) to a more modern dlink router - DIR-655. 3 antenna instead of 1 etc. Old router was a d-link also but I thought I was increasing my range with the new one.

My iMac has no trouble connecting wirelessly each time I wake or reboot....
My iPhone seems to remember the router.... and vice versa....

I'll try some of the other suggestions here and see what happens. If only there was some place I could compare the settings for the two routers - maybe I'll put the old one back in for a spell and see what happens...
