Upgraded to FW1.02 - Now I can't connect with OSx Lion 10.7.2
« on: December 07, 2011, 08:32:35 AM »

Hi guys,

I downloaded from D-Link Taiwan (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/downloads2008detail.asp) the 1.02 firmware because I have supposed it was officially released...

But now, I can't mount any more my NAS "Volume_1" drive on OSx Lion (10.7.2) by SMB, because an error occurred:
[There was a problem connecting to the server "DNS-325"].
CARE: by SMB appears the drive list (Volume_1, Recycle Bin), but I can't connect to any of them.

If I try to connect by AFP or NFS nothing happens, and I obtain the same message, but with more details:
[The server may not exist or it is unvailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again].

How can I solve this problem?  :-\

PS: I still can connect to my NAS by DLNA  :P

Beta firmware v1.02b03 resolved Time Machine compatibility issues with Lion 10.7.X, but D-Link subsequently removed that version from circulation for unknown reasons. The official firmware version 1.02 pre-dates the beta release.

We will have to wait for a re-release of firmware v1.02b03 (or a newer release) to access this fix.

Have you tried the following: when configuring TM, you first mount the NAS volume and set it as target disk for TM.
Then you make your first full backup. Once complete, unmount the TM volume. After that TM finds that disk even if it's not mounted in Finder first. At least that's how it works on Apple's original devices (AirPort Extreme, TimeCapsule). I have never tried if this works with DNS-325 too. The thing is, that Apple devices advertise a special Bonjour service (_adisk._tcp. - Automatic Disk Discovery) that DNS-325 does not.

The 1.02 Official FW release today should resolve the issue with Mac OSX Lion.

There's no official release notes posted yet on this forum. However, I would hazard to guess that the posted release notes for firmware v1.02b03 are integrated in the firmware v1.02 official release: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=43742.0
