connectivity issues
« on: December 22, 2011, 05:15:54 PM »

Ok...so I'm not a techie....hence my posting here :D
I had a Linksys WRT54GS (G) which provided great ethernet and wireless connectivity.
I upgraded to a DLink DIR 825 (N) so that the signal would reach my upstairs bedroom wirelessly ( I have a DLink wireless dongle attached to the pc there).
Main floor computer continually dropped its ethernet signal when I dialled into work through a Cisco Systems portal........so......back to the Linksys I went....
Ethernet goes from cable modem, through the Linksys and into the Main floor PC....perfect....
How do I get my DLink to output the wireless signal though? I have an ethernet going from the Out on the Linksys to the In on the DLink.......I can "connect" to the network but no IP can be configured etc etc

Is there an easy solution that I"m missing?

Thanks in advance :D

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz or turn it off if your not using 5Ghz.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
