I googled this, and searched through these forums, and found a few solutions, but nothing worked so far. 

Here is the problem.  I have a DIR-615 in the basement hooked directly to the modem.  I have one PC hardwired to it in the basement and another output to a plugin in the living room upstairs.  That plugin is hooked up to a DLink EBR-2310, so I can hook up components in the living room.  I am not using the Lan input on that one, just 1, 2, 3, and 4. 

When I plug that router in, it disables the wireless from the 615, but the internet still feeds through to the PC, and the components upstairs have internet.  One solution I read about was to disable dhcp on the 2310, but when I tried that I lost internet connection through the upstairs router and it still disabled my wireless.  If I hook up one component upstairs directly, there is no issue, but I have 3 things to hookup.  I've read that you should be able to use a second router as a hub, and it kind of works for everything hardwired, but then I lose my wireless (laptop, IPhone, Wii).  I have three extra routers and I'd rather not have to buy a separate hub.

Just to be clear on when my wireless goes down, I can connect with the router wirelessly on my laptop, but it doesn't give me internet access.  When I disconnect the 2310, I have to reset the 615 for the wireless connection to have internet again.

 I had some initial problems with wireless on my 615 when I first got it, and uploaded new firmware which fixed it.  I was having this same problem before I uploaded the new firmware too.

You can try this to make routers into APs. Not sure if the EBR will support or work in this fashion.

Might be best to just buy a external network switch and make things easy on yourself. I enjoy my 24 port switch.

Trying to make routers into switches isn't easy sometimes, or doesn't work and defeats the purpose of the routers design.

I must have changed something with the IP address on the 2310, because I couldn't access it using .1 or .2.  I tried using my older dlink router, followed the steps in your other post, and looks like now it's working! 
Is there some way to reset the IP address to default on the other one?  I also tried an old wireless dlink router my father in law gave me, and I couldn't access it using .1 or .2 either, and it has .1 listed on the bottom of both.  I was able to access the 2310 yesterday, and switched the last part in the IP address to .2, but afterwards I could not access it.  I switched the IP on the older one to .2 and I could access it using .2.  Does that make sense?  Anyways, not a big deal if I can't use them.  I've got the one working and that's really all I need right now.

To get back to default settings and IP addresses, just do a factory reset of the routers or devices. I presume that those older routers should use the same default address of 192.169.0.1. I would look at the product manual and verify this is the case. Again, may or may not be possible to use them all as access points or switches. Keep us posted. Here to help if we can.

I used 192.169.0.1 initially to access it, then I changed it to 192.169.0.2 so it wouldn't conflict with the first router.  After I applied the change, I couldn't acces the second router using either of those addresses.  The weird thing is I couldn't even access the other old router I got from my father in law at all!  Is there a way to reset them to default setting settings without accessing them through the menu?  Some way using the reset button or something?  Like I said it's not a big deal because I did get my original old one working.  Thanks again!

Yes use the reset button in back after you turn them on. This should reset them to factory defaults.
