Think my DAP is bricked
« on: January 06, 2012, 03:31:54 PM »

only light that comes on is the network light. it wont reply to http://192.168.0.50

my ip: 192.168.0.5

connected with lan, done all the usual stuff, eg. set my ip, hit reset button etc.

Even done the cold reset (reset button in at power up) to get to the emergency web server. uploaded latest firmware there but it just stuck on the same screen for a long time. nothing happened. the timer didnt go down. i waited a good few minutes in case it was still uploading, tried to refresh the screen with F5 but nothing was happening.

now when i turn it on i get the same. nothing. just network activity but it wont reply to http://192.168.0.50.

I have been having issues with it losing connection to my other router sometimes. I have had to regonfigure everything at least twice but this time it wouldn't do it. I suspected some kind of time issue since it was new year etc. I saw a brand new FW (so close after new year) so I suspected it was a fix.

Guess not...

What browser did you use? Try a different browser? Opera or FF.

ALso input a static IP address into our PCs network properties and test again.

Having the same issue after attempting to update to the latest firmware.

Now stuck with no power LED (LAN ports light up and that's it).

Unable to enter recovery mode or view config page.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Possibly wrong firmware available on the dlink site?  Version 1.40 is about 11.2MB whereas previous versions were significantly smaller....

Just got off the phone with tech support and they are going to RMA the device  :)

If anyone else is having a similar issue, I suggest you give them a call.

Thanks for the info. It's too bad they didn't include a Recovery option for the DAPs or you could reload code use the last resort. Oh well. At least they are taking care of it. The FW file has been fixed.
