Website filter doesn't work any more
« on: January 13, 2012, 01:06:12 PM »

Hi, I had the website filter ON and it was working very well to block a few websites on a schedule. And after a few month, it doesn't work any more. While it is possible that I scewed up the setting , I have tried so many settings that I am now asking for help. So:
DIR655 fw 1.32NA,
hw A3,
"Enable access control" is on with the desktop MAC address (used copy this MAC)(I have also tried my laptop MAC),
web site filter is set to "deny",
the router time is set using NTP dlink server,

Thanks

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
Try using time.nist.gov for NTP.

Might do a factory reset of the router and set everything up from scratch and set up the Web filter again.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Unfortunately, it still not working. I have done all the sugestions you mentioned except "Setup/Networking Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address" which I could not find in the choices available.

Does this have anything to do with securespot disapearing? or is it just a coincidence...

Finally, before I revert to factory reset, would you consider a firmware update to 1.35NA ?

Cheers.

I would try a factory update to v1.35 and follow the FW update sticky process when doing that.
Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.
