Problem to copy folder with sub-folder
« on: March 29, 2012, 02:40:23 AM »

Hi,

i have a nas d-link dns-325, i'm trying to copy some folders, but my macpro copies only the folders that not has subfolders.
If there are sub-folders copies only the principal folder, but is empty.

how i can resolve this problem?

Do you connect over AFP? DNS-325 defaults to offer SMB, so you have to manually conect to server from Finder using the URL
Code: [Select]
afp://yournas.local/

Well, as I said, I mount my NAS volume via AFP protocol and I see no problem in moving folders containing subfolders with many nested levels.

I have the same problem. I mount the nas with afp://IP-NAS and when drag a folder with subfolder from my macbook  it copies only the structure (folder and subfolder) without any other content.

Really strange. OK, I have to admit, I have changed the ownership in the NAS filesystem from default to explicit.
Understandably, this will require console access and Fun-plug.

I am having the same problem with my new DNS-325 from my iMac running OS-X 10.6.
As best I can tell at this point, it's related to some limit on how many files or how much data I can copy at once to the NAS drive. I'm still playing with this. I'm trying to restore all my iTunes music to my DNS-325 which I had backed-up on another USB drive. The iTunes Media folder has a Music sub-folder has many other sub-folders for each artist. As long as I limit the number of files I copy in one batch to less than around 920 files or 3.5Gb at a time, it seems to copy fine. It's just going to take a while to copy all my files. This is really annoying...
Does anyone know where this limit might be set, what it is, how to change it? I'm not sure if it's an OS-X limit or a DNS-325 limit. Anyone have any ideas?

I have succeeded in copying my iTunes music folder (which has many many sub folders), but I suspect a bug with the DNS-325. I ended up using a utility called Ultracopier (which is fabulous!...and FREE!!!) and allows me to reduce the data rate at which it copies files to the DNS-325. If I lower the copy rate enough, the files and sub-folders get copied successfully. If I copy them as fast as my iMac allows, then some files don't get copied. If I use a USB drive, then it works fine. I have upgraded to version 1.03 and the results are the same. At least I have a work around for now.
