WEP/WPA
« on: March 04, 2012, 05:31:10 PM »

I'm puzzled . . . .

Have Winxp SP1 on my notebook.  No issues connecting to the internet through the router.

Have installed a separate boot, Winxp SP1 on the same notebook.  Identifies the same wireless connection, but prompts for a WEP key (rather than the WPA utilized in the other boot . . . something that I have automatically engaged when I boot that instance of winxp.

What the hell is going on?  I have WPA-Personal set up in the router for that particular wireless connection, but the second winxp tells me it requires WEP.

Puzzled and frustrated.

There were some updates for XPs that were earlier than SP3 to make WPA work correctly.
