New firmwares on ******** FTP site
« on: March 27, 2012, 07:36:11 AM »

Dear sirs,
on ********* FTP site [link removed] I have just discovered two new firmware updates:

update_DCS-942L_1.01_0902_WW.zip
update_DCS-942L_1.10_1229.bin

Do you know what's changed? Is it possible to install them on my italian device? Thanks.

Best Regards.

On FTP italian site, I find latest version 1.00 (0522), while my cam has built-in version 1.02 (1029) - I found it as purchased, never updated.
Anyway I follow your suggestions written on your post to avoid problems with warranty.

Thanks for your collaboration.

The warranty is secondary. Of primary importance is ensuring the firmware is compatible with your DCS-42L. I strongly recommend waiting for a firmware version labeled as worldwide or specifically designated for the country where you purchased your camera.

I used the global Dlink website (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/), I chose the DCS-942L product, it gave me the firmware "FW: DCS-942L_A1_FW v 1.10_1229 (for EU)" (EU should stand for "European Union", so it is suitable for italian users - the built-in firmware was 1.02-1029_EU). I downloaded it and installed it. Everything now is ok, no problem anymore with false motion detection (with old firmware I was receiving 20-25 false motion detect during the night - now zero!!!), I've also the web management in italian languages, and I've discovered some improvements and bug fixes. I will give a look to your firmware wishlist to see if something has been solved/added or if there still are some pending improvements.
I tried to contact the italian Dlink tech support, but they have no email (only phone). I will try to use the italian forum in order to inform about this important update.
I suggest all of you to contact your local D-Link tech support in order to have an updated WW firmware because version 1.10 (1229) is an excellent improvement for this cam.
Thanks for your collaboration.

Thank you. No harm, no foul.  We're just looking out for the best interests of our community and don't want to create any false expectations of compatibility before they are officially announced by D-Link.
