Advanced DNS

Last night, when I selected Advanced DNS in my DIR-655, my Brother wireless printer wouldn't connect through the router to my computer.  The same occured when I enter the Advanced DNS addresses into my PPPoE manually without selecting Advanced DNS.  The same also occured when I entered the Open DNS addresses: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.  Very interestingly, Google DNS and my AT&T DNS addresses work just fine, i.e., the wireless printer connects to my computer. 

If you are able to explain this to me, please so do it.

DNS shouldn't have any thing to do or effect anything connected on the LAN side between LAN side devices.

Honest to God: The Advanced DNS effects my Brother printer's wireless connection.  I don't understand it either.

Does the printer have web services features?
I would refer you to the Mfr info on this printer.
At least the printer works with Google and your ISP DNS.
ISP DNS is preferred.

I just tried it again with Advanced DNS enabled and my computer doesn't connect to the printer through the router.  I also tried the other OpenDNS addresses and they don't work.  I rebooted everything including the router.  The printer just won't connect to the computer when those DNS addresses are used.  I'm overly puzzled, although the Advanced DNS does work insofar as the computers' internet connection - I'm able to use the wired desktop in addition to the wireless laptop.  The printer connects to the router but not my computer.  I don't think that the Brother wireless interconnection does anything internet-wise funky.  I read the manuals when I hooked it up.  Funny those DNS servers cause my printer to stop connecting to the computer but at least my ISP DNS and the Google DNS addresses work with any problem.

It's preferred that Advanced DNS is disabled anyways. Is kind of odd though.  :-\
