Shareport on two DIR-655
« on: April 04, 2012, 08:59:17 AM »

I have two DIR655 routers in my home network. The second router (A4) is set up as an AP, linked to the main router (B1) with Zytel 200Mbs Homeplug. I loved the Shareport feature, and has been relying on this feature to provide printing functionality througout the network. My question is, since I have two DIR655, is there a way that I can leverage both USB ports on these two routers. My initial assessment is that it would not be possible, perhaps because this feature relies on the fact that the USB port has to be on the default gateway. So if anyone has any suggestion on what I can try out to get this to work.

thanks.

Best way would be to test it out. If SP works with one printer on the host router, test out the connected USB device on the AP mode router and see.

I would power everything off first. Power on the USB device and let it come to ready then power on the 655s and let them come to ready. Then open SP and see. I would try to have a USB device connected at each 655 at the same time and test.

Thanks for your feedback. I did test it out and was not successful in getting them to work.  That being said,  I have noticed the posting about the latest firmware on the B1 that had rendered the Shareport feature inoperable. I have just downgraded my B1 to 2.00NA, and now I can seee both USB devices attached to two DIR655s.

thanks.
