I have the DNS 323 set to JBOD with two 1.5TB hard drives. I use one drive just to store my movies on, which are accessible to other devices in my house and the other drive receives a nightly backup of files from my computer. I'd like to use a third 1.5TB drive to backup the data on both drives (or just the one with my files) and keep this drive stored offsite. What's the best way to accomplish this?

Get a hot plug caddy for your computer and use that.  Do not try unplugging one of the drives in the NAS - that way leads to tears and lost data.  You could also use an external USB drive and transfer from the NAS to that. 

Or better still get another DNS-323 and use that to backup your backups.  We have one setup off site that calls the ones on site and downloads as necessary, although fore home use that may be overkill.

Am I able to plug a USB drive into the back of the NAS, then use a tool like ChronoSync (Mac) or Carbon Copy Cloner to just mirror the drives?

Alternatively, I suppose I could plug a FW800 drive into my Mac, and set the source as the NAS drives and the target as the FW800 drive, right?
