Time & daylight saving
« on: April 25, 2012, 05:15:32 AM »

Hi,

Just noticed that after a reboot of the router the time is wrong by an hour.  I have daylight savings switched on which is still set after a reboot but only seems to kick in after I click the sync button. The biggest impact of this for me is that my wifi, which is on a schedule, is not coming on at the correct time. Hopefully a fix for this will be possible on a future firmware update?

Cheers

Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Are you using an NTP server?

I have mine set for Mountain time zone, DST +1 and NTP server ntp1.dlink.com and the routers time is right one. WiFi schedule is for 6am to 2am and it's been working.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
My hardware version is A1, my firware 1.01 and I'm in the UK.
On the time setup screen my timezone is GMT I have 'Enable Daylight Saving' checked.
I have 'Daylight Saving Offset' set to +01:00.
I have DST Start set to Mar / 4th / Sun / 12:00 am.
I have DST End set to Oct / 4th/ Sun / 12:00 am
I have 'Automatically synchronize with D-Link's internet time server' checked.
The 'NTP Server Used' is set to ntp1.dlink.com.

My time is showing correctly now. However if I reboot the router and go back to this screen the time will be one hour behind, i.e. the +1:00 hasn't been applied. Clicking the 'Update Now' button will rectify this and add an hour.

Cheers

How about disabling DST and just using the NTP server?
Might try the beta version of FW if your interested. It's what I'm running right now on mine.
I'm in the NA region.

Thanks,

The only problem with disabling DST is that the NTP server returns a time an hour wrong. I guess I could try one of the other timezones that are an hour in advance.

Where do I get the beta firmware from and is it possible to revert back to 1.01 if it causes me problems?

Cheers

We'll thought there was a beta for UK. I might have been thinking about something else. There is a WW v1.02 B08 available. I believe that will work as well. You should be able to downgrade and revert back to original. Just make sure you have the original file handy and that you save off the current routers config to file before you update. I would not load the config file afterwards and set up the router from scratch.

Let me know if your interested.
