For the last week or so my router has been shutting down periodically several times each day. I have been through the Internet connection with the Shaw Techs and can always connect by bypassing the router, so that isn't the problem. I can sometimes reconnect from my laptop by reconnecting to the network, sometimes by using the "repair" (on my XP laptop) option and sometimes I have to power down the router and restart it. Everything was working fine until the last 7 - 10 days and I can't think of anything that has changed.
I reset to factory defaults, reset the passkey, then followed FurryNutz' recommendations yesterday. It seems stable at the moment but I had to reset it several times yesterday (post changes) and I've already had to restart it once today and some devices have been unstable and most are not even online. I've also noticed that the time/date function isn't working. I've reset it twice and it won't keep up.
Am I expecting too much out of an old router? I've heard they can have a lifespan of 4 years or so, which puts this one into old age, but I don't want to replace it unless I know that age is the problem.
If I need to replace it, any suggestions?
Thanks, gairth
