How to buy a WCF (Web Content Filtering) subscription
« on: April 28, 2012, 04:14:43 AM »

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully obtained a WCF subscription from Dlink.

I bought one through the web store in the fall of 2010, and after multiple calls, I have concluded that both Digital River and dlink are helpless and hopeless when it comes to this particular product.

It has variously been listed as "out of stock" or awaiting shipment.  It is listed as a boxed product despite the fact that it is a subscription code.  Email support is clueless, and keep asking me if I want a code to activate some software.

I have been transferred around a dozen times and to no avail.  On one occasion, I was given a callback number, and the voicemail was constantly full.  Weeks later I learned that the person was no longer with the company.  What a waste of time!!

The local dlink "retailer" was equally useless.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm fed up with the whole thing.  The router is  rock solid, but the major reason I bought it was because of WCF.  I'm amazed that a business makes it so difficult to buy one of their products.

I don't usually post email, but here is a typical bizarre exchange:

Candice, it is an ACTIVATION CODE for continuing my subscription
to Net-Defend web content filtering for my DFL-210 serial Number
bs2p5a1000125.  It is not a boxed product.

How can it be out of stock?

Can you please escalate this to someone who can help me get this
activation code.

I have been trying to get this done for several MONTHS now.

Thanks,
