My Denon receiver does not like to switch the 1080p video signal from the DSM750. There is frequent switching noises as it tries to select the input. So I intend to connect the video to my TV using HDMI. But I want to continue to carry the audio via the optical connector.
Does anyone know whether if I select HDMI for video, the optical video is still connected?
Edit:
In case anyone else needs to know, I have now tried this and was successful. HDMI to TV for Video and Optical to receiver for audio.
In case anyone wonders why I just didn't try first ... getting behind a large plasma TV, multiple component devices on a TV stand, is not easy nor for the faint of heart. If someone had tried and found it to be unsuccessful, I would not have bothered
