Updating AjaXplorer
« on: June 02, 2012, 09:24:02 AM »

Is it possible to update the factory installed AjaXplorer (v 2.7.2)? If so, how?

The main reason I'm asking is because my family are unable to download files larger than 2GB. If there's another way please could some tell me, as I can't figure it out :(

Thanks

You could try FTP, just make sure your FTP client handles files larger than 2GB.

Thanks for the reply.

How do I set up a FTP client? This is my first NAS and I'm short on technical knowledge; I could just cope with getting it up and running.

You just download something like JFTP from jMethods (request a free license) which will run on any java equipped computer.

On the DNS-320 login as 'system administrator' and go to 'management' then select 'application management'.  This will open a page that allows you to fill out the FTP server settings.  Either use the defaults - recommended until you know what you are doing - or supply your own settings.
Save the settings and log out.

Install JFTP on your computer then connect to your DNS-320 by using its IP and the username and password you set up on the FTP page.  You can then open Volume_1 and its directories and transfer files to and from your computer.
