help configuring
« on: May 27, 2012, 12:52:34 AM »

Hi there, (windows 7)
I'm not a computer guy.  I cannot figure out how to set this thing up.  I am at the point where my computer recognizes the router.  I see the network name in my internet connections, however am unable to connect to the internet.  I have RCN and have followed the setup wizard a million times trying different things.  RCN told me it's a "dynamic IP" so i selected that.  Then the following page asks a number of questions.  Host (if there is one) and primary/secondary DNS.  I've used CMD (windows) and ipconfig/all to try and find the right entries for this.  I don't know what i'm doing.  Someone please advise on how to fill in that section of the wizard.  much appreciated in advance!!

Hi!  Welcome to the forum, Lowell!

Try unplugging your modem for 30 seconds (with your router turned off) and then plug your modem back in, let all the lights on the modem get stable, about 2 minutes, then plug in your router and let it boot up.

See if that helps.
