I got my DNS-320 last week, everything worked perfectly with the installation. And I can connect from all of my computers without any problems. The connection speed is also okay.
However if I open a MS Word document it takes about 30 seconds, even if the document has just 19kByte. Everytime I save the document the program is out for about 30 seconds again. It is not because the disk has gone to sleep. Sometimes it needs to wake up, but then it remains active for 5 minutes. Even within these five minutes the programs don't react whenever they have to interact with the NAS. Powerpoint is just the same. Opening PDFs works without problems and the windows explorer also performs well.
I have WIN 7 running with Office 2007 on my desktop. The funny thing is, that the problem is not as bad on my WIN XP Laptop with the same Office version (even though it is connected via W-LAN).
Any ideas what the problem could be? It is not a speed issue, nor a disk-sleeping issue.
Help would be greatly appreciated, since I have made it a habit to press ctrl-S constantly when working on documents.
