DIR 655 Won't Upgrade (Still on V1.21)
« on: January 10, 2013, 06:05:30 AM »

Hi everyone,

First post here.  I've been trying to find my solution with the info already available but I'm stuck.

I've been trying for years to update my firmware but I'm still on version 1.21.  I've never been able to update.  I found the information in the discussion below but I get the same error message every time.

<<<The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.

If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.>>>

I tried every version of the firmware and I get the same error every time.  I'm logged in as admin, I'm connected to the computer through port 1, I've done the factory reset, I've rebooted... about 100 times now.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks,

-craig

Link>Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.

Is there a problem with the router at the moment? It's recommended not to update if your router is working for you.

For Rev A routers, you need to download and unpack the. bin REV A firmware file. v1.35 is the lastest version for Rev A routers.
Rev B firmware is for Rev B routers only.

Use IE only for managing and doing updates with routers. Do not use Chrome. Been known to brick some routers.

Disable ALL 3rd party security SW on the PC that your using to manage and send firmware while upgrading. Anti-Virus and Firewalls. Re-enable after the update is successful.

Tahnks for the reply,

It's hardward version A3.  I was using chrome so hopefully that and me trying the rev b firmwares is the cause of the failures.

I'll try version 1.35 tonight and post the results.
