Good Day all and greetings from South Africa
Please can someone out there who is a guru on D-Link switches possibly assist me, I have 2 Dlink Switches (DGS-1224T and DGS-1210-24), I am trying to setup a simple basic VLAN accross the switches, but seem to be hitting a brick wall. Config is as follows.
DGS-1224T
Configuration -> 802.1Q VLAN
I have the default Vlan 1 with all ports untagged. I edit Vlan 1 and make port 17,19,20 "not member"
I click "Add VID" and create a new Vlan ID of 10 and a Name of "Guest" and choose ports 17,19,20 as untagged, and apply.
Now I have Vlan 10 with the 3 ports, when i test it, all the devices plugged in on those 3 ports can see each other and all is good.
If I do the the exact same config on the DGS-1210-24, same thing, all devices in that vlan can see each other, However I need the VLAN traffic to pass between the 2 switches and this is where I fall down.
The 2 switches are joined together via port 24 (i.e port 24 of the DGS-1224T connects to port 24 of the DGS-1210-24.
I now go to Configuration -> 802.1Q VLAN and choose port 24 as tagged (on both switches), click "Apply"...but alas...I cannot get Vlan traffic to pass between the 2 switches...
Can someone please tell me what I am missing? Are the DGS-1224T and DGS-1210-24 "VLAN comaptible" with each other, this should be pretty straight forward, I know on other switches a VLAN trunk has to be configured, but these D-Link units do not have that option.
