I figured it out for now. After MUCH reading, and no great answer as there are quite a few issues with firewalls and such and the shareport. I ended up deleting the shareport off of my laptop, downloaded the 1.21 SecureSpot firmware off of D-links support pages and saved to desktop(or file, whatever lol), saved my router configurations(nice feature BTW D-link and talk about a time saver!)to my other hardwired computer, installed the 1.21 SecureSpot to my router through my hardwired laptop(must do), imported my saved settings(I still love that feature). Then reloaded my shareport onto both of my laptops. OK, I then unchecked the box for check for automatic updates off of both of my laptops, which is easily done by right clicking on the icon on lower right of screen, advanced settings, uncheck automatic updates. Done. Been working for 3 days now knock on wood. Worthy of noting, both of my laptops are running XP and not Vista. Vista seems to have its own set of problems and different fixes. Hope this helps out anyone with the same problem I had.

Worthy of noting, the uncheck the automatic updates issue was found on here as well as Microsofts boards and other boards as well.
Ok, without trying to sound like I'm bashing this product(not my intention) but one thing is for sure, the DIR-655 isn't very user friendly IMHO, or to be more clear its not a router for somebody who wants to just unbox it and spend an hour or 2 hooking up a few computers at home. Quite honestly had I known this I would have bought a Netgear or a Linksys, but the shareport sold me and after many days and nights figuring this thing out I have too much time invested in setting it up to just box it back up and take it back. Now I just have to figure out how to get some respectable range in my moderate 1200 square foot ranch which this thing has a hard time doing as well, that also makes me wish I went with another brand. This certainly doesn't live up to all the hype all over the internet on how perfect this router is. Its a decent router with some nice features no doubt but as I said above it takes some work to make it work correctly when it should be a much simpler install. The range this is supposed to have, it doesn't. Heck, I can connect to a neighbors unsecured lynksis router with varying poor to good reception and have respectable performance anywhere on the main level of my house but my own DIR-655 cant do that in the same test spots in my own home? I bought for range, speed and shareport and I cant get this work as claimed. Well, ok the shareport works great for now! LOL.
