Remember that the Dir505 is three seperate devices under one roof. Each time you slide the Mode selector switch, you are on a different device. Information entered one mode does not transfer to the other Mode. When you click from the Router-Mode to The HotSpot Mode, the wireless setup wizzard is entirely different. The sign-in looks the same, but its different. Same is true for the Repeater-Mode.
Each Time you slide the selector, you have to go back to settings and log on to the Wireless Signal when you are configuring the three (3) seperate devices. Easy to forget. (Remember that these are 3 seperate devices in one convenient package)
I can setup/configure the Router-Mode and HotSpot mode from my Android Device
I CAN NOT setup/configure the Repeater-Mode using my Android device.
(I can however set-up the Repeater-Mode with a PC, Notebook or Netbook)
Once the Repeater Mode is setup buy the PC, I can connect to the amplified Repeater signal using my android device. (This is kind of a a bummer in theory). I dont actually have any weak signals so the repeater is not as much deal breaker as i originally thought.
Using A PC: In the Repeater Mode, you slide the Dir505 selector to the middle Repeater-Mode. In the browser address window you enter 192.168.0.1 (or http://dlinkrouter). Log onto the set-up utility (dont enter a password). *** Choose to SetUp Manually***
Find the Weak one-bar Wifi signal you want to Amplify. Once setup - the weak one-bar poor signal becomes a strong 4-bar excellent signal.
When you are done using the Repeater for the a paticular signal, you just take a paperclip and stick it in the reset hole (next to the USB). Only the Repeater configurarion will be reset, the other Mode info will still remain unchanged. Then you can choose another poor signal to amplify.
