Hi all,

Hardware version: A4, Firmware version: 1.35NA.

The device is working just fine but I just want to change the password but it failed. I opened my web browser enter 192.168.0.1 then logged into the admin account then put in the new password for both admin and user, clicked save setting...it asked for rebooting the device I let it rebooting. Everything went fine. I was able to log in both the admin and user acc with the new password. The only problem is that my PC can still connect to the network using the old password? What would I do wrong here? I expect that the PC will need to use the new password to access the network but this is not the case. Please help.

Thanks.

Tried emptying the browser cache?
What browser are you using? Try Opera or FF. They do the same thing?
Same thing happening using a different PC?

Might try a factory reset too. I would change the Admin PW first and get it set then change the User PW after if you need the user log in. If your the only one managing the router then it's preferred to only use the Admin acct.

Hi Furry,

Thanks for you reply. I am using FF. I tried this with another PC but the result was the same. Also tried it with IE but that did not help. And yes, I did empty the browser cache as you suggested as well.

I really do not want to do a factory reset because I hate to start to set up all over again.

I noticed that after putting the new password, clicked save settings, and chose reboot now ...it was saying "rebooting" but I saw this message in the browser address bar "http://192.168.0.1/reboot.cgi?reset=false". Does that mean my router fails to reset or reboot? Any suggestion? Thanks.

After you select Ok to have the router reboot, select Ok then close the browser. Wait for the router to come to ready, then open up the browser and see what happens.

I am not quite sure what you meant by all that. But here what I did: log in as admin, put in the new password, click save setting (this gives me 2 choices: reboot now or reboot later), choose reboot now and when it is saying rebooting (it is counting to 15 seconds), I close the browser and wait for a while then open it up again. I am able to log in as admin with the new password but again this does nothing to my network password; I am still able to log in my network with the very old password that I have been using before. I tried to log in to my network using the new password that I just changed to but it failed; I lost my internet. I only get internet when I use the old password.

Thanks.

You do understand the routers password is only for the routers management web page and does nothing to windows network passwords on PCs right?

I guess I need to do my homework again  ;D ;D ;D. I have been always assuming they are the same. When I setting up my router and my network, somehow they using the same password. Thanks.

Updated:

Ok, I've got it sorted. The wireless network password is what I am supposed to change, not the router password. I went to SetUp->Wireless Setting then changed the password and everything is fine now. THanks alot for your help. Have a nice day.
