In DSL 2750U router ( firmware version - IN_1.10 ), I see that though router retrieves real DNS server from ISP, it pushes default gateway as DNS to PC. This
link tells this is common behavior of most commercial routers. I have 2 queries.
1. I have enabled DHCP on router and '
Obtain DNS server address automatically' in connection properties in PC. Is there any way, so that router(2750U) pushes real DNS of ISP instead of sending default gateway as DNS.
2. I tried reading 2750U manual for more information on fields under '
Enable DNS Proxy' like '
Host name of the Broadband Router' and '
Domain name of the LAN network'. The manual doesn't mention any thing. What does the fields mean ? Unless I tick the check box titled '
Enable DNS Proxy' in router settings, I cannot access internet. Why? If I hard code, Google DNS( 8.8.8.8 ) in PC, I can access internet even with out 'Enabling DNS Proxy'.
Thanks for reading.
