Microsoft Security Essentials & DNS320
« on: October 14, 2012, 01:26:04 PM »

The DNS320 running firmware 2.0 & in service for many months without issue now has problem related to Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE):
When MSE does it's weekly scheduled Quick Scan on 1 particular computer running Windows XP on the network , I receive 8 emails of full server logs - all of them filled up with:
[date/time Server smbd: CIFS: Authentication for user [MACHINENAME$] has FAILED.]

Anyone know if there's way to avoid this while still letting MSE scan the files on the DNS320?

It appears that when the MSE scan is run from the client interface, there's not a problem (perhaps the access to the DNS320 then is from the logged-in user credentials).
