Not sure if it is the same issue, but I am getting a similar issue. DIR-835 product, but Chrome browser, not IE.

Occasionally when I attempt to view a web page I see the router's login page instead. All the while, the address bar shows the URL of the desired page (not the router login page). Only if I reload (Cmd-R) like crazy, or just come back later, does the correct page appear. Meanwhile I can open tabs and load other sites just fine.

My guess is that the router mistakenly returns its own IP address for DNS lookups from time to time, so the web request goes to the router instead and it just serves up the login page for any path it doesn't recognise (e.g. http://192.168.0.1/asdf/asdf.html).

But what to do about it? Haven't seen anything in the settings.

This only happens on Chrome? If only on Chrome, I would presume Chrome has an issue.
Does the same thing happen on FF or Opera?

Not sure, as Chrome is the only browser I've used lately. As a performance measure it caches domain name lookups for a certain time, as I assume current browsers all do. Which is a reasonable thing to do most of the time, but if the initial lookup (for say forums.dlink.com) returns the wrong IP (192.168.0.1), then reloading the page will not necessarily help and the only immediate remedy is to restart the browser.

So I believe it is not a browser issue per se. I can't see any workaround other than to use the DNS settings for my ISP directly, but clearly that is not ideal.

Does this router have a Advanced DNS Service and DNS relay?
Are you using ISP DNS? I might try inputing ISP DNS under Setup/Internet/Manual and see.
I would try to Disable DNS Relay as a test and input DNS on the PC and see what happens.
There could be an issue with FW.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer if your interested. Its safe and secure.

Yes the DIR-835 has Advanced DNS and DNS Relay options. Only DNS Relay is enabled on mine.

The problem could be in the DNS Relay and I'll try disabling it as a fix. This should just configure clients to use the ISP's DNS server(s) directly instead, and it remains a plug-and-play setup for them. Of course it's a matter of wait and see whether this works.

Let us know how the new FW works. Please follow the FW Update Process.
USE IE only for updating FW! DO NOT USE CHROME!

I would set up from scratch and do the following:
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall if you have this option.
